How to upload documents to Knowledge Base

Adding documents to your Teammate's Knowledge Base is straightforward. Follow this step-by-step guide to get started.

Step 1: Navigate to the Knowledge Base Section

  1. Open a new Teammate or View existing one
  2. Click Select Knowledge Base for Teammate



Step 2: Add Document Collection Tool

  • Select +Add to view the available knowledge sources
  • Select "Document Collection"



  • Provide a document name in camelCase formatExamples:✅ Correct: productManual, salesData2024, employeeHandbook, q4FinancialReport❌ Incorrect: product manual, Sales Data 2024, employee-handbook, Q4_Financial_ReportNaming tips:Include relevant identifiers: modelX500Manual instead of just manualAdd dates when relevant: pricingSheet2024 instead of just pricingSheetBe specific: customerSupportGuide instead of just guide

Step 3: Upload your files

  • Click the "Upload File(s)" button
  • Select one or more files from your computer
  • Enable analysis options for the Document Collection tool: After selecting Document Collection, you'll see toggle options to enable different analysis capabilities. These determine what your Teammate can do with ALL documents uploaded through this Document Collection tool. Enable Text AnalysisActivates vector search for documentsAllows the Teammate to read and search through document contentWhen to enable: If you upload text documents (PDFs, Word docs, etc.) that need to be searchable



Enable Code Analysis (Code Interpreter)

  • Activates Python code execution for data manipulation
  • Allows the Teammate to perform calculations and create new files
  • When to enable: If you upload spreadsheets or data files that require computational analysis

Enable Image Analysis

  • Activates AI Vision for visual content
  • Allows the Teammate to understand images, diagrams, and charts
  • When to enable: If you upload images with important visual elements
  • Vision tool is applied only to files that match images format. Images inside Doc or PDF documents are not by processed by Vision tool.

Note: multiple toggles can be enables to use different tools on different files. In this case make sure to give clear instructions in Chat what actions you want to perform.



  • Click Save Teammate.


Review Knowledge Base in Chat Dialog

To review the list of loaded documents in Chat Dialog expand Knowledge Base section is on the right panel.


Document collection name, Document description and all loaded documents are shown in Knowledge Base section.
