Creating Teammates in Playground
What is Playground?
Playground is a simplified chat interface that instantly creates AI Teammates as you start conversations. The moment you send your first message, a new Teammate is automatically created and saved—no setup required.
Think of it as: A quick-start environment where every conversation automatically becomes a Teammate you can return to or enhance later.
How to access Playground
- Navigate to Playground Page from Menu or by link https://app.buildworkforce.ai/playground
- You'll see a clean chat window ready for your first message
What happens when you send your first message
The moment you click Send:
- A new Teammate is automatically created in the background
- The Teammate is named using the first characters of your prompt
- A unique URL is generated using the chat ID so you can return to this conversation
- The conversation is saved and appears in your Teammates list
Example:
- You type: "Help me analyze sales data for Q4"
- You click Send
- A Teammate is instantly created named: "Help me analyze sales data"
- You can now continue chatting with this Teammate
No manual setup needed—just start talking!

Selecting your AI model
- Click the Select an LLM dropdown at the top of the interface
- Choose from all available models (same options as in Teammate Builder)
- Continue your conversation with the selected model
Note: You can change models at any time during your conversation.

Using voice input
Instead of typing, you can speak your prompt:
- Click the microphone icon
- Speak your message
- The system converts your speech to text
- Review and click Send

Enabling web search
To give your Teammate access to current web information:
- Click the web search icon (globe with meridians) before sending your message
- This enables the web crawl tool for your conversation
- Your Teammate can now search and retrieve web content
How it works: When you enable web search and ask questions like *"Get me all listings on example.com/somepage"*, the tool automatically handles the search and returns results.
When to enable:
- Questions about current events or real-time information
- Requests to analyze specific websites
- Queries requiring up-to-date data

Uploading documents
To provide context from your files:
- Click the paperclip icon
- Select one or more files from your computer
- The documents become available for this Teammate session
- Ask questions about the uploaded content

Playground offers pre-written prompt suggestions to help you get started quickly:
'Help Writing an Email' and 'Help me Brainstorm'. Click on the button on the top of the chat to use one of them.

Best practices for Playground
Make your first message descriptive Since the first prompt becomes your Teammate's name, make it clear and specific.
- ✅ Good: "Help me analyze Q4 sales trends"
- ❌ Bad: "hi" or "help"
Enable tools before sending complex queries If your question requires web search or document analysis, enable those features first for better results.
Upload documents when asking specific questions For questions about particular files or data, upload the documents before asking to get accurate, contextual answers.
Convert valuable conversations to full Teammates If a Playground chat proves useful, enhance it in the Teammate Builder with permanent configurations.
